2007 has been a very busy year for The Special C boys. We completed our 10th bi-annual tour of Ireland, England and Scotland in January, returning to the USA just in time to perform at the huge Supergrass festival in California the first weekend of February. Two weeks later, we brought our in-school program to Boston-area schools and performed at the fabulous Joe Val festival. In March we had a great time at the Parker, AZ bluegrass festival and also performed in WV, PA, MN, IN; we finished the month teaching and performing at the Cabin Fever Bluegrass Workshops in BC, Canada. April kept us on the move from Canada to WA to the Carolinas and eventually TX and the always-enjoyable Park City, KS Bluegrass Festival. We performed shows in MO in May (including the Flower Festival in Florissant and Silver Dollar City in Branson, one of our favorite places to perform) and also in MI and TX (for the great Fire on the Strings Bluegrass Festival). Our new Pinecastle Records recording Trail of Aching Hearts was released in stores in May and we are happy to report that the song has climbed to the #7 position on the National Bluegrass Survey chart of the Top 30 songs in Bluegrass Unlimited (the album is #5 on the Top Ten Albums chart) and #1 on the Bluegrass Music Profiles chart for the month of October. In June we welcomed our great new mandolin player Ashby Frank into the band and we performed at festivals in Canada, IN (Bill Monroe’s Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival and a fest in Wakarusa), WV, IL and OH. In July we returned to Europe for shows in France, Germany and Switzerland and we then completed our annual summer tours to WY, CO, and ND in addition to shows in IL, MI and OH. We performed at festivals in IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, MO, MT, WA, and WI in August and September and we performed in concert with the Idaho Civic Symphony in Pocatello in October. Look for us in IL, IN, MI and TX in November before we complete our annual winter tour to WY and MT after Thanksgiving. And finally, we look forward to our December performances for the Northern Illinois Bluegrass Association and First Night Evanston in IL as we close out another enjoyable year. We wish everyone wonderful fall and winter seasons and holidays and we look forward to seeing you in 2008.
